Small Business Internship Program

The Small Business Internship Program provides small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) financial support to hire a post secondary student or recent graduate to assist them in their adoption of e-business strategies. The project hopes to achieve the outcomes of increasing SMEs competitiveness and productivity through the enhancement of e-commerce practices, technological improvements, improved customer service and/or improved marketing.

There are certain criteria that the business owner must meet to be considered as an applicant, by the NSACBDC:

(a)   be a for profit organization under Canadian law; and

(b)  be an established small and medium-sized enterprise with less than 500 employees

(c)   be willing to hire a student for 420 hours

(d)  have the desire to become more productive and competitive in today’s global economy using information and communication technologies

(e)  wanting to adopt e-commerce practices

(f)   and wanting to provide a youth with experience and capabilities related to the     application of information and communication technologies

To qualify as an intern, the student/recent graduate must meet the following criteria;

The NSACBDC will reimburse SMEs up to 75% of the total cost of student intern wages and mandatory employment benefits to a maximum 420 hours (offered between 12 and 14 weeks).
